Privacy Policy

ArcVault is an app for keeping track of the anime, manga, movies, TV series, books, audiobooks and games you watch, read, listen to and play. This policy explains what information ArcVault uses, why, and the choices you have. "ArcVault", "we" and "us" mean the developer of the ArcVault app.
- Your library is yours. We use it only to run the app and sync it between your devices.
- No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information.
- Photos you scan with Smart Scan are read on your iPhone and are not uploaded or kept by us.
Information we collect
Your account
You sign in to ArcVault with Sign in with Apple. Apple shares an account identifier with us and, if you allow it, your name and email address (which may be an Apple "Hide My Email" address). We use these to create your account and keep your library in sync.
Your library
The titles you add and everything you record about them — statuses, progress, episodes and volumes watched or read, dates, ratings, reactions, notes, collections and saved cast members — are stored on your device and with our backend provider (Supabase), so they sync between your devices and can be restored.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push notification token so we can send the alerts you've turned on, such as new episodes and releases. You can turn notifications off at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Connected services
You can choose to connect AniList or MyAnimeList to import your lists or keep ratings in sync. When you do, the sign-in keys those services issue are stored securely in your device's Keychain and used only to talk to that service on your behalf. You can disconnect them at any time in Settings.
Smart Scan and the camera
Smart Scan uses your camera, or a photo you choose, to recognize covers, cases, posters and shelves. The photo is read on your iPhone by Apple Intelligence and Apple's text recognition. We don't upload, store or keep your photos. Only the titles it recognizes are looked up in the catalogues below. If a future version uses Apple's Private Cloud Compute to read a photo, the photo is processed by Apple under Apple's privacy protections and is not stored or seen by us.
Searches and catalogue information
To show posters, descriptions, episodes and other details, ArcVault sends search terms and title identifiers — not your account or library — to catalogue services: The Movie Database (TMDB), Apple's iTunes and Apple Books search, IGDB and Jikan. These services receive the request from your device in the ordinary way, including your IP address.
Crash information
If the app crashes, a crash report may be saved on your device to help diagnose it. It is not sent to us unless you choose to share it.
How we use information
- To provide ArcVault's features and sync your library across your devices.
- To send the notifications you've turned on.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To keep the service secure and working properly.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run parts of ArcVault for us — Supabase for accounts and sync, and Apple for Sign in with Apple, notifications and Apple Intelligence — and with the catalogue services described above, only as needed to show catalogue information. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and synced library for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we delete your account and synced library from our systems, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation.
Your choices
- You can edit or remove anything in your library at any time.
- You can disconnect AniList or MyAnimeList in Settings.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, including deleting your account, by emailing [email protected].
Security
Sign-in keys are stored in your device's Keychain, information is sent over encrypted connections, and synced data is protected so only your account can reach it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
ArcVault is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app.
